(¿1872?, Alexandropol, Armenia, Imperio ruso–29 oct. 1949, Neuilly, cerca de París, Francia).

Místico y filósofo armenio. Al parecer viajó por Medio Oriente, África y Asia central cuando era joven. Enseñó en Moscú y en San Petersburgo, y en 1919 fundó el Instituto para el desarrollo armonioso del hombre en Tiflis (actual Tbilisi), Georgia. En 1922 restableció el instituto en Fontainebleau, Francia, donde reunió a un grupo de seguidores que vivían en comunidad y participaban en diálogos filosóficos, ejercicios rituales y danzas. Su afirmación básica era que el modo de vivir ordinario era equivalente a dormir y que mediante la disciplina espiritual era posible alcanzar elevados niveles de vitalidad y concienciación. El centro de Fontainebleau cerró en 1933, pero continuó enseñando en París hasta su muerte.
